Kid Nation

This is a Kid Nation fan site. Kid Nation is a new reality TV show on CBS, where 40 children from 8 to 15-years-old try to run an old western town with minimal adult supervision. Kid Nation takes place in the town of Bonanza City, New Mexico on the Bonanza Creek Movie Ranch.

In the first episode of Kid Nation, the children were dropped off outside of the city and had to haul carts filled with supplies over mud trails to get to their destination.

The cast of youth were counseled by host Jonathan Karsh that four kids had already been appointed as the council for the duration of the show.

When the cast of Kid Nation characters arrived, they found that there was only one outhouse, the bunkhouses were in disrepair as was the kitchen. They had the task of deciding sleeping quarters, cleaning and organizing them and deciding who was going to cook for the crew of 40.

At this point, there was little organization in the town, tempers were flaring and kids were crying and threatening to leave the next day. Within a couple of days, with better organization and better meals, things started to turn around. The Kid Nation council found out that the town was supposed to be divided into four sectors of four different teams.

In a Survivor-style competition, the participants of Kid Nation competed in their teams to pump colored water from a giant oil-well-like rig and capture the water in containers and fill bottles with it.

The first place team would be the upper class and receive $1 paid in Buffalo nickels for their efforts. The second place team in Kid Nation would be merchants and they would receive 50-cents. The third place team would be cooks and receive 25-cents and the fourth place team would be laborers and receive 10-cents.

Because all of the contestants in Kid Nation finished the competition they got to choose a grand prize of either extra outhouses or a TV set. After deliberation the Kid Nation youth chose the outhouses to help the town function more effectively.

At the first town council, Sophia was given a gold star, made from actual gold and worth $20,000 for her exceptional work ethic in feeding the contestants. On the downside, 8-year-old Jimmy decided he was too young and missed his Mom too much and decided to go home.

In the second episode of Kid Nation, the merchants won the pipe building competition and swapped places with the upper class. The laborers did not finish the challenge in the allotted time, so not only did they stay laborers, but the whole group did not win the grand prize of the water ride.

At the second town council meeting, Michael won the gold star for his work ethic and exceptional attitude in helping out. Greg wanted the gold star and was bitter that he didn't receive it. No one left Kid Nation in this episode.

Kid Nation is a winning combination of a kids' show, Survivor and a western melodrama all being played out at once. Controversial before the first episode aired, Kid Nation has quelled many of the vocal critics and made some adjustments for the taping of Kid Nation 2 that will be airing dependent upon the success of the first Kid Nation.

In the third episode of Kid Nation, one of the little members won the gold star on her birthday, the slacker group got into the elite club, sheep were flying, Greg was mad and crying about not winning and partying stopped as the rule of law took over. For the rest of the Kid Nation episodes, you're just going to have to watch and tell us what you think. Kid Nation rules! Watch it and find out for yourself.
